Account Closure Terms
What This Document Covers
This document explains how you or Kudimata Securities Ltd. can close an account, what happens to your money and investments, and what happens to your data after closure.
Closing Your Account Yourself
You can close your account at any time by contacting us at support@kudimata.securities. Before we close your account, the following must be settled:
- All open orders must be cancelled or filled.
- All pending withdrawals must be completed.
- Any fees or charges owed to us must be paid.
- Your wallet balance must be zero. If you have money left in your wallet, we will return it to your saved bank account before closure (in the production environment).
In the current test environment, no real money is held, so closure simply means your test account is deactivated.
What Happens to Your Investments
When you close your account:
- We will sell any holdings you have at the current market price (in the production environment).
- The proceeds from the sale will be credited to your wallet.
- The wallet balance will be transferred to your saved bank account.
- You will receive a final account statement showing all transactions up to the closure date.
In the test environment, holdings are simulated and no real sale takes place.
When Can We Close Your Account
We may close your account in the following situations:
- You have not used the account for 12 months or more and we cannot reach you.
- You provided false or misleading information during onboarding.
- You breached the Client Agreement or Terms of Service and did not fix the issue when we asked.
- We are required to close the account by law, a regulator, or a court order.
- We decide to stop offering the service in Nigeria (we will give you at least 60 days notice).
If we close your account for any of these reasons, we will tell you the reason and give you a chance to respond where possible. We will return any remaining balance to your saved bank account (in the production environment) unless we are legally required to hold or freeze it.
What Happens to Your Data After Closure
After your account is closed, we keep your records for the periods required by SEC rules:
- Trade orders and wallet transactions: 12 years.
- Client communications: 7 years.
- KYC records: for the period required by SEC rules.
- Audit trail: 12 years.
During this period, your data remains stored securely and is only accessed if required for regulatory, legal, or audit purposes. When the retention period ends, your data is securely deleted or anonymised.
You can request a copy of your data before your account is closed by contacting us at support@kudimata.securities.
Reopening a Closed Account
If your account was closed because it was inactive, you can contact us within 12 months of closure to request reopening. We will ask you to complete KYC verification again before the account is reactivated.
If your account was closed because of a breach or regulatory action, reopening is at our discretion and may require additional review.
Complaints About Closure
If you are not happy with how your account was closed, you can file a complaint with us at support@kudimata.securities. We will acknowledge your complaint within 1 business day and respond within 10 business days. If you are still not satisfied, you can escalate to the Securities and Exchange Commission of Nigeria.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, the new version will be published in the app with a new version number and effective date. You will be asked to review and accept the updated version before your next trade.
